LG Electronics Grows as One of Top 5 Key Phone Provider in the World

- Export to Europe and the U.S. led by Italy and U.K. growing.. Unchallenged No. 1 in Korea
- Total supply in 2001 expected to reach 5.7 million lines to become world fifth largest supplier

LG Electronics - the leader of key phone industry in Korea - is growing into one of world top 5 key phone makers in the world.

LGE's global market share has been rising steadily since becoming world 8th largest key phone maker last year. LGE's strategy is to grow as world fifth largest key phone supplier this year by supplying total 5.7 million lines of key phone systems to the world.

Currently, Nortel Networks is leading the global key phone market with 12% of the market followed by Siemens (10%) and Panasonic (10%).

LGE is shipping its flagship product - large size key phone system (LDK-300) to Italy, U.K. and other European and the U.S. markets. It plans to introduce Internet Protocol-based products from next year.

LDK-300 - the main export model - is digital key phone system for medium to large sized offices and can support up to 300 lines. It also provides VoIP based service.

LiK-70 which will be introduced early next year is IP-based digital key phone system that while offering the existing key phone functions, also offers state-of-the-art voice/data integrated communication features via IP-based network (Internet network, etc.). It can support maximum 300 lines.

In addition, LGE plans to strengthen its marketing efforts with particular focus on these cutting-edge products to become world fifth largest key phone maker with total market share of 5%. Leveraging on its strong performance of last year when its total global supply reached 4.2 million lines, LGE plans to sell 5.7 million lines of key phone system in and out of Korea. Global key phone market volume is expected to reach total 114 million lines this year.
